Selectra’s Independent Survey: High Satisfaction with iPhone 17 Features, But Price Remains a Concern

Selectra Japan K.K. conducted a survey targeting 100 male and female purchasers of the iPhone 17 series, launched on September 19, 2025. The survey aimed to evaluate satisfaction with the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models, focusing on specifications and price. The results indicate that while 95% of users are generally satisfied with the iPhone 17 series, a significant 59% expressed dissatisfaction with its price.

Among the iPhone 17 series, the standard iPhone 17 was the most popular choice, purchased by 55% of respondents. The iPhone 17 Pro accounted for 31%, and the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max was chosen by 14%.

Most Upgrades from iPhone 14 Series

Previous iPhone/smartphone models used by iPhone 17 purchasers

Before purchasing an iPhone 17 series device, the most common previous model was the iPhone 14 series (21%), followed by the iPhone 15 series (19%). These two models combined represent 40% of all upgrades. Including the iPhone 16 series (9%), nearly half of purchasers upgraded from a model released within the last three years.
