The Concept of “Compact Vacuum Cleaners” Born from Japanese Housing Environments

When SwitchBot began developing robot vacuums for the Japanese market, it conducted market research involving over 2,500 households over three years. At the time, large models designed for spacious living environments were dominant, which were not always suitable for Japanese homes.

The research revealed that many Japanese users felt that “robot vacuums are convenient, but not suitable for my home,” citing issues such as:

“Large models get caught on intricate furniture, ending up not cleaning effectively.”
“Debris remains in room corners and along walls, requiring a second cleaning.”
“The operating noise is too loud, making it difficult to use at night or during remote work.”

SwitchBot addressed these challenges by developing products based on “ease of use for Japanese people.” This led to the creation of the “K10+,” described as one of the world’s smallest.

The K Series has gained support as a robot vacuum that fits Japanese homes, thanks to its compact design that easily navigates around chair and table legs, and its space-saving design including the dust collection station. The series has also continuously evolved in terms of suction power, mapping performance, and design.
