What is “Phase Free”?
Phase Free is a modern concept in disaster preparedness that seeks to improve the quality of life (QOL) by eliminating the distinction between normal (everyday) and emergency (disaster) situations. It advocates for designing products and services that are regularly used to also be valuable during disasters. The “Phase Free Certification” is a system managed by the Phase Free Association (https://phasefree.or.jp/), which evaluates and certifies products and services for their shared value in both daily and emergency contexts.
