Many of these fires originate from an invisible state of “overheating,” often progressing to ignition and spread before being noticed.
KOKODA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ota-ku, Tokyo) is addressing this pre-ignition phase by announcing the “HISTOP” fire prevention sticker through a crowdfunding campaign on Makuake, starting January 26, 2026.
Preventing Fires Before Ignition
HISTOP is a fire prevention auxiliary product designed to be affixed to heat-prone areas such as electrical outlets, power strips, and power adapters.
When a high temperature (approximately 130-150°C) is detected, the internal flame-retardant foam material rapidly expands, covering the heat source and suppressing the progression of combustion. HISTOP requires no power or operation; it functions automatically 24 hours a day once applied, eliminating the need for daily inspections or special handling.
As overheating progresses, the internal material reacts, covering the heat source to inhibit the spread of fire. A key feature is its ability to act before sparks or abnormalities become visible. This allows users to continue their daily electrical usage while being prepared for overheating risks around outlets.

Traditional fire safety measures often require continuous attention or action, such as unplugging unused appliances or performing regular checks.
