“HISTOP” Fire Prevention Sticker Launched: Addressing Overheating Risks at Power Outlets

Recent years have seen a rise in fire accidents stemming from overheating and tracking phenomena around electrical outlets, power strips, and extension cords in homes and offices. Many of these fires originate from an invisible state of “overheating,” often progressing to ignition and spread before being noticed.

KOKODA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ota-ku, Tokyo) is addressing this pre-ignition phase by announcing the “HISTOP” fire prevention sticker through a crowdfunding campaign on Makuake, starting January 26, 2026.

HISTOP Fire Prevention Sticker

Preventing Fires Before Ignition

HISTOP is a fire prevention auxiliary product designed to be affixed to heat-prone areas such as electrical outlets, power strips, and power adapters.

HISTOP High Temperature Detection

When a high temperature (approximately 130-150°C) is detected, the internal flame-retardant foam material rapidly expands, covering the heat source and suppressing the progression of combustion. HISTOP requires no power or operation; it functions automatically 24 hours a day once applied, eliminating the need for daily inspections or special handling.

HISTOP Covering Heat Source

As overheating progresses, the internal material reacts, covering the heat source to inhibit the spread of fire. A key feature is its ability to act before sparks or abnormalities become visible. This allows users to continue their daily electrical usage while being prepared for overheating risks around outlets.

Seamless Integration into Daily Life

Traditional fire safety measures often require continuous attention or action, such as unplugging unused appliances or performing regular checks.

HISTOP Easy Application

HISTOP prioritizes effortless integration into daily routines, requiring no tools and simply sticking it on for installation. When it reacts, no chemicals melt or drip; it remains firmly adhered and functional even after expansion.

Tested Materials and Structure

The materials used in HISTOP have undergone rigorous testing, including evaluations for gas toxicity, ensuring their suitability for daily use even in high-temperature environments. Third-party tests conducted include:

  • Ozone Resistance Test

  • Weather Resistance Test

  • Fire Resistance Test

  • Gas Toxicity Test

HISTOP Test Report

The gas toxicity test confirmed that the material generates minimal harmful gases upon ignition. From material selection to structural design, HISTOP is engineered for use in residential and office environments, specifically for electrical equipment.

Background of the Crowdfunding Project

HISTOP was developed by ASAK KUKIL, a manufacturer based in South Korea, which has dedicated many years to material research and structural design, focusing on unseen risks in daily life.

In Japan, factors such as an aging population and the widespread use of multi-taps contribute to an environment where outlet-related problems are more likely to occur.

KOKODA Co., Ltd. aims to introduce products that address minor anxieties and often-overlooked risks in daily life, allowing for effortless integration. The company collaborates directly with manufacturers, primarily in South Korea, possessing excellent technology and ideas, adjusting products to fit Japanese living environments and values before delivery.
