MANOMA Smart Home Service Unveils New Gateway and Sensor Devices, Enhancing User Experience
Life Elements Inc. has announced a renewal of its smart home service, MANOMA, effective December 26. This update introduces new hardware, including the “Gateway Remote S” and “Open/Close Sensor S,” replacing the “AI Home Gateway” and “Open/Close Sensor” respectively. The changes aim to provide a more convenient and feature-rich experience for users.

Device Renewals
The core of the service, the “AI Home Gateway,” which serves as a hub connecting various devices to the smartphone app, will be replaced by the “Gateway Remote S.” While the new gateway will no longer include speaker features like Alexa, alarm sounds, or notification reading, nor a built-in router function for SIM cards, it gains the capabilities of the former “Smart Home Appliance Remote.” This means it will now offer temperature, humidity, and illuminance detection, along with remote control for home appliances.
The “Gateway Remote S” features a convenient USB Type-C power supply and supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Its monthly fee is ¥600, a reduction of ¥400 compared to the previous “AI Home Gateway.”

Concurrently, the “Open/Close Sensor” will be updated to the “Open/Close Sensor S” to be compatible with the new gateway. This change is due to a shift in the gateway’s connection method from Z-Wave to Bluetooth. The monthly fee for the “Open/Close Sensor S” will be ¥300, an increase from the previous ¥100.
Wi-Fi Option and Qrio Smart Tag
The provision method for the “Wi-Fi Option” is also changing. Previously, this option utilized the router function of the “AI Home Gateway” by providing a SIM card. With the “Gateway Remote S” lacking a built-in router, customers opting for the Wi-Fi service will now receive a set including both a SIM card and a dedicated router. This new setup simplifies the process, allowing users to establish a Wi-Fi environment by simply powering on the router and inserting the SIM card, with no complex configuration required. The initial fee for the Wi-Fi Option will be adjusted from ¥3,400 to ¥3,500, while the monthly usage fee remains ¥2,000.
Furthermore, the “Qrio Smart Tag,” a device used for detecting home arrivals, will no longer be offered to new subscribers due to the altered gateway connection method.
Impact on Service Plans and Pricing
The “Security Set” and “Parent Monitoring Set,” which are pre-packaged combinations of recommended devices for specific purposes, will continue to be offered at their current initial and monthly fees, retaining their set discount benefits. With the “Gateway Remote S” now incorporating the functions of the “Smart Home Appliance Remote,” these sets offer enhanced functionality without an increase in price. The “Child Monitoring Set” will continue to be provided with the same devices and pricing as before.
For the “Select Plan,” which allows users to choose devices freely, the basic plan fee will remain unchanged, while the addition of appliance remote control functionality makes it even more convenient.
Customers who are currently subscribed to the “AI Home Gateway,” “Open/Close Sensor,” or “Wi-Fi Option” will be able to continue using their existing devices.
