Background of the Agreement

In recent years, there has been increasing concern about the impact of microscopic environmental factors on health and daily performance, such as pollen, house dust allergies, PM2.5, viruses, and bacteria. In the tourism industry, environmental quality—specifically “clean air,” “cleanliness,” and “hygiene management”—is becoming as crucial as facility aesthetics and service quality in determining guest satisfaction. Nesta Resort Kobe, known for its rich natural environment, has always aimed to provide stays that harmonize with nature. By partnering with Haier Japan, a global leader in home appliances, the resort intends to systematically enhance indoor living quality in addition to the appeal of its outdoor environment.

Purpose of the Agreement

The primary objective of this agreement is to verify and improve “living quality” across air, laundry, cleaning, and hygiene aspects in integrated resort accommodation and tourism settings. This endeavor aims to enhance the value of the tourism experience while simultaneously reducing environmental impact, leading to the development of an optimal appliance implementation lineup model.

Agreement Details

Based on this agreement, both companies will pursue the following initiatives:

  • Verification of Environmental Quality in Guest Rooms and Common Areas: Evaluation and improvement verification of existing air quality, laundry environments, cleaning standards, and hygiene management systems in hotel guest rooms and common areas.

  • Implementation Model Construction Using Latest Appliances: Verification of enhanced living quality in hotel guest rooms and other areas through the utilization of the latest home appliances, including air purifiers, washing machines, refrigerators, and air conditioning equipment.

  • Environmental Improvement for Activity Facility Employees: Enhancement of the overall sense of cleanliness in guest-facing areas by improving the laundry quality of uniforms for employees at outdoor activity facilities.

Agreement Period

The agreement is effective from January 29, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with automatic renewal thereafter.

Representative Comments

Representatives at Signing Ceremony

Naoki Inui, Executive Vice President, Haier Japan Sales Inc.

“Haier, headquartered in Qingdao, China, operates globally as a home appliance manufacturer and has maintained the No. 1 global market share in white goods for 17 consecutive years. We entered the Japanese market 23 years ago, steadily expanding our business primarily with refrigerators and washing machines. Currently, we are further broadening our white goods lineup. Through this agreement, by introducing our latest home appliances to Nesta Resort Kobe, we aim to contribute to creating comfortable spaces and improving environmental quality for guests, while also reducing the effort involved in cleaning and laundry. This partnership with a resort facility is a first for our company, and we plan to continue proposing value utilizing our technology, including improvements to the air environment.”

Atsushi Tanaka, Representative Director and President, Nesta Resort Kobe Inc.

“Nesta Resort Kobe, which opened in July 2016, will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. With a vast area equivalent to approximately 60 Koshien Stadiums, it is a rare comprehensive theme park in Japan where guests can enjoy multi-day stays amidst abundant nature. In recent years, in addition to enriching activities, awareness of ‘environment’—such as cleanliness, comfort, and air quality during stays—has significantly increased, becoming a crucial factor influencing customer satisfaction. In this context, by introducing Haier’s latest equipment, we aim to enhance the overall environmental quality of our facilities and realize a comfortable stay environment that meets Japanese and global standards. This agreement, as part of the ‘Co-Creation’ initiative within our ‘ARC Vision’ announced for our 10th anniversary, seeks to leverage the strengths of both parties to build a relationship that adds value and enhances customer satisfaction.”
