Addressing the Core of the iPad Writing Experience

Many users rely on the iPad for note-taking, sketching, and work memos. However, the experience of writing on a glass surface often comes with a distinct tapping sound and a sensation of the pen slipping. Users frequently experiment with different screen protectors and pen tips in search of a better feel. Redbean approached this challenge by questioning the fundamental structure of the writing experience, rather than focusing on combinations of existing accessories.

Redbean’s conclusion was to create a comfortable writing experience that functions well in any screen environment.

Introducing the Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip

The result of this approach is the “Redbean the better Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip H2PT.” This new pencil tip features a honeycomb structure combined with a precision resin, delivering a soft and supple writing sensation. It offers a delicate balance of friction, preventing excessive slipping or stopping.

Enhanced Writing Feel and Quiet Operation

The Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip provides a stable line on glass surfaces, mimicking the experience of writing on paper. This contributes to a more focused writing experience. The unique design, which combines special materials and a multi-layered structure, absorbs impact upon writing, significantly reducing the tapping sound. It achieves a quiet operation of approximately 35dB.

Durability

An internal high-durability core structure ensures consistent writing performance over extended periods, with an estimated writing endurance of approximately 5km.

Compatibility

The Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip is compatible with all Apple Pencil models (1st generation, 2nd generation, USB-C model, and Apple Pencil Pro) and the Redbean Pencil H1+ (as of January 2026). Compatibility with other third-party pens is not guaranteed. It is important to note that it is not compatible with the older Redbean Pencil H1 model.

Redbean also focused on another aspect of the iPad experience: the interruption caused by reaching for the screen to switch tools while writing. To address this, the next-generation iPad pen, “Redbean the better Pencil H1+,” was developed, featuring the Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip as standard.

Seamless Workflow with Physical Buttons

The Redbean Pencil H1+ incorporates three physical buttons, supporting over 30 major applications, including GoodNotes and Procreate. This allows users to perform actions such as switching between pen and eraser, changing brushes, modifying tools, operating layers, and switching applications without touching the screen. This division of labor, where the pen tip handles the writing feel and the pen body manages operations, aims to elevate the iPad writing, drawing, and thinking experience.

Precision and Stability

The pen offers precise and stable pressure sensitivity, minimizing wobble. It also features tilt detection, providing tracking comparable to genuine Apple Pencils.

Components

The Redbean Pencil H1+ includes the Redbean Pencil H1+ (with Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip pre-installed) and one replacement Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip. It supports both wireless and Type-C charging, with details varying by model, which can be found on the product page.

Proven Success in Crowdfunding

The Q-Flex™ Pencil Tip was initially launched on a major crowdfunding platform in Korea in January, achieving a remarkable 16,989% of its funding goal. Over 7,000 units were sold in a short period, receiving high praise from users who sought to improve their iPad writing experience. This success extended to Japan, where the project launched on GREENFUNDING on January 23, 2026, surpassing 2000% of its target amount on the first day.
