Industry-Leading Slim Design with High Capacity
The GR-A490XFS model boasts an industry-leading slim design with a depth of 62.9cm and a width of 65.0cm, while still offering a substantial 487L capacity. This design allows for installation in limited kitchen spaces, providing significant food storage capacity.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s ‘Report on Construction Starts Statistics,’ the average floor area per household has been shrinking over the long term. This trend affects kitchens, making it challenging to secure sufficient storage space, even when consumers wish to buy food in bulk as a measure against rising prices. To address these needs, the GR-A490XFS has been added to the ‘XFS series,’ catering to the demand for a refrigerator that is both slim and spacious.
The GR-A490XFS incorporates unique high-capacity technology, achieving a 2.0cm reduction in depth and a 26L increase in capacity compared to previous models (GR-Y460FZ). This results in a volumetric efficiency of 64.2% (among domestic household refrigerators in the 451L-500L capacity class, compared by the ratio of rated capacity to product dimensions, as of January 15, 2026). This not only allows for more effective use of limited kitchen space but also makes the interior more visible and food items easier to access due to the reduced depth. Furthermore, when placed alongside cupboards or storage shelves, the minimized protrusion of the refrigerator front reduces the sense of 압박감 (pressure), making the kitchen feel more spacious.
Extended ‘Deli Chilled Mode’ for Longer Freshness
The popular ‘Deli Chilled Mode,’ designed to keep pre-cooked meals delicious for longer, has been extended from approximately 7 days to approximately 10 days. This mode preserves food at a low temperature without freezing, reducing the effort of defrosting while maintaining the taste and texture close to freshly prepared meals. The effectiveness of this mode may vary depending on operating conditions, food types, condition, and quantity.
