The Problem with Bulky AC Adapters
While new gadgets are released daily, the size of AC/DC power adapters often remains unchanged from decades past. The sheer number of voltage and connector combinations leads to an ever-increasing pile of inconvenient adapters, making it difficult to distinguish which adapter belongs to which gadget. VFLEX aims to provide a smart solution to this proliferation of AC adapters.
What is VFLEX?
VFLEX is a compact device (2.6cm high x 1.5cm wide x 0.8cm deep) that allows users to flexibly set the required output voltage. By connecting a USB-C power source (such as a USB charger or mobile battery) to one end and a suitable connector (plug) to the other, VFLEX can act as a replacement for a traditional AC adapter.

How to Use VFLEX
Replacing an AC adapter with VFLEX involves three simple steps:
- Connect VFLEX to a smartphone or PC and set the output voltage (V) via an app or browser. (The required voltage can be found on the gadget’s body, AC adapter, or instruction manual.)
- Connect VFLEX to the gadget using a plug (connector) that matches the gadget’s port.
- Connect the other end to a USB-C power source. (Commercially available USB-C cables, USB chargers, and mobile batteries can be used.)

VFLEX Use Cases
VFLEX is designed to replace AC adapters for a variety of gadgets, including:
-
Older gadgets with broken or lost AC adapters.
-
Gadgets with short AC adapter cables, limiting their placement.
-
Gadgets with large, bulky AC adapters.
-
Gadgets typically used indoors but desired for outdoor use.
Examples of Use:

Powering a BaseStation 2.0, normally supplied by an AC adapter, using VFLEX and a dedicated connector.

Powering a PS one + LCD monitor, normally supplied by an AC adapter, using VFLEX and a dedicated connector.

Powering a PSP3000, normally supplied by an AC adapter, using VFLEX and a dedicated connector.

Powering a PC fan (12V) using VFLEX and a dedicated DIY connector.
Please note that the above examples do not imply official permission from the gadget manufacturers for use. The use of VFLEX, including setting appropriate output voltage and selecting dedicated connectors, is at the user’s own risk.
