Development Background
Lithium-ion battery-equipped products pose a risk of smoke and fire due to malfunctions or degradation. Information released by the Tokyo Fire Department indicates that mobile batteries were the most frequent cause of fires by application in 2023. 1
In response to this situation, the ‘Mobile Battery Fire-Resistant Case’ series was developed with the concept of ‘daily disaster preparedness.’ The goal is to integrate preparedness for ‘what-if’ scenarios into everyday items. The new ‘Mobile Battery Fire-Resistant Case Large’ joins this series, offering a larger capacity and a metal-free design compatible with wireless charging mobile batteries.
Product Features
This product aims to mitigate damage from potential accidents such as mobile battery overheating or ignition, serving as a daily disaster preparedness item. It features a 5-layer structure designed to suppress the spread of flames and heat. This structure consists of silicone and glass fiber cloth on the outer layer, fire-resistant cotton in the middle layer, and glass fiber cloth and silicone on the inner layer. A fire-resistant zipper is also incorporated into the opening to suppress heat transfer from the opening. Since no metal materials are used, the case is compatible with mobile batteries supporting various wireless charging standards, including Qi, Qi2, MagSafe, and Apple Watch (patent pending).
Under the theme of ‘daily disaster preparedness,’ the case combines a stylish design for everyday use with a large size capable of storing multiple mobile batteries. The soft-touch silicone coating is water-repellent, and the case is available in three colors: black, green, and gray. It can be utilized broadly as a storage or carrying case for mobile batteries, or as a gadget pouch for outings.
