The Neo Lithium-ion Battery: A New Benchmark in Safety

The “Neo Lithium-ion Battery” is characterized by three core pillars: meticulous exclusion of impurities in cell materials, prevention of degradation during extended use, and passing rigorous safety tests.

Thorough Exclusion of Impurities

The most critical components for mobile battery safety, the electrodes and electrolyte, have been refined to eliminate minute impurities that could cause ignition. Magnetic foreign substances and trace metals, which pose significant safety risks, are strictly limited to less than 1 in 6.67 million parts in the positive electrode, achieving a level of impurity suppression unprecedented in the industry.

Prevention of Degradation Over Time

Proprietary surface treatment technology applied to the negative electrode helps suppress the formation of lithium metal dendrites, which can occur with prolonged use. Furthermore, optimizing the electrolyte composition inhibits internal side reactions, such as oxygen generation and decomposition reactions on the electrode surface, thereby reducing degradation over time.

Clearing Rigorous Tests

To ensure safety against impacts and issues encountered in daily use, the battery has undergone extensive testing. Improvements in the tensile strength, puncture resistance, and heat resistance of the separator, along with coating applications to the positive electrode’s aluminum foil, enhanced positive electrode structure stability, and improved negative electrode surface treatment, contribute to superior thermal stability and reduced thermal runaway risk during internal short circuits. This has resulted in a battery capable of achieving a 100% pass rate in the demanding “nail penetration test,” which involves directly piercing the battery cell to force an internal short circuit (based on “GB 47372-2026” standards). The battery also successfully passed severe heat resistance tests and pressure resistance tests.

Enhanced Safety Features Beyond the Battery Cell

In addition to the “Neo Lithium-ion Battery,” Anker has implemented further safety measures at both hardware and software levels.

Flame-Retardant Casing

The power bank’s casing is constructed from a flame-retardant material that has passed stringent fire resistance tests. This material is designed to resist ignition even when exposed directly to flame and to contain flames internally in the unlikely event of ignition, minimizing potential damage.

Advanced Battery Management System

The existing battery management system has been further enhanced to monitor each individual battery cell in real-time, detecting even the most minute anomalies. It also records detected abnormalities and can temporarily lock or disable the product based on the severity of the issue. Moreover, as the number of charge cycles increases with age, the system automatically adjusts the charging limit voltage, which can be monitored via a dedicated application.
