LG UHD AI 4K LCD TV “NU851 Series” to Launch on LG Official Sales Sites in Late August
LG Electronics Japan Inc. will sequentially release the “NU851 series” (65V, 55V, 50V models), a new lineup in the “LG UHD AI” 4K LCD TV category, on LG official sales sites from late August 2026. This expansion aims to offer customers more purchasing options and enhance the lineup of 4K LCD TVs that provide high-quality picture and sound.

The “NU851 series” shares specifications with the popular “NU850 series” 4K LCD TVs, which have been available since April 2026. These new models are equipped with the “α7 AI Processor Gen9” as their video engine, which analyzes terrestrial broadcasts and online video content in real-time to optimize brightness, contrast, and detail. For audio, the AI converts 2-channel sound into a virtual 9.1.2-channel equivalent, enhancing immersion. Additionally, LG’s proprietary webOS provides easy access to a wealth of streaming content from services such as YouTube, Netflix, and TVer. The series also supports “FILMMAKER MODE™,” delivering picture quality faithful to the creators’ intentions for an authentic viewing experience at home.

Key Features
Proprietary Real-time AI Processor “α7 AI Processor Gen9”
At the heart of the TV, the “α7 AI Processor Gen9” video engine, with enhanced computing and video processing, utilizes AI trained on global video data. This AI analyzes various genres of content in real-time to optimize both picture and sound quality.

-
AI Picture Pro: Automatically recognizes various video genres and converts them to optimal picture quality, rendering natural skin tones and clear, high-resolution images.
-
4K Upscaling: Low-resolution content is upscaled to 4K. This meticulous frame-by-frame upscaling process transforms lower-resolution video into a more detailed 4K picture.
-
AI Sound Pro: Converts 2-channel audio into immersive virtual 9.1.2-channel three-dimensional sound, creating a more engaging surround experience. It also automatically adjusts sound quality for each video genre, providing audio appropriate for the content.
Optimal Video Display for Content and Preferences
-
FILMMAKER MODE™: This mode disables video processing and frame interpolation, allowing viewers to enjoy movies as intended by the filmmakers.
-
HDR10 Pro: LG’s unique HDR enhancement technology, “HDR10 Pro,” analyzes and adjusts HDR10 and HLG HDR formats, which typically have only single luminance data, on a frame-by-frame basis. This results in more vivid and realistic images.
“webOS” for Diverse Content
With LG’s proprietary “webOS,” users can enjoy a wide range of streaming content from over 600 domestic and international VOD applications, including YouTube, Netflix, and TVer. The webOS also guarantees free updates for five years, allowing users to keep their software up-to-date by simply updating it at home. (This guarantees a total of 4 OS updates over five years. Update timings may vary annually, and content may differ by model and country.)
Large-Screen Gaming Experience
webOS supports cloud gaming services such as Xbox and GeForce NOW, enabling users to enjoy games by simply connecting a gamepad to the TV. With support for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), the TV can reduce screen tearing and stuttering, offering an immersive large-screen gaming experience.
User-Friendly Usability
- AI Voice ID: By speaking into the separately sold Magic Remote or the “LG ThinQ” smartphone app, the TV automatically switches to the user’s LG account. This eliminates the need to re-enter login information, providing seamless access to an optimized viewing environment.

-
AI Chatbot: If users encounter operational difficulties or issues, selecting “AI Chatbot” from the TV menu provides guidance on operations or directs them to diagnostic programs. This allows for preliminary diagnosis before contacting customer service, leading to smoother consultations.
-
Multi AI Search: Compatible with “Google Gemini” and “Microsoft Copilot.” For example, if users want more detailed information or advice about a tourist destination or restaurant they learned about on TV, the AI can provide immediate answers.
Reliable Long-Term Support System
LG Electronics Japan’s support desk accepts customer inquiries via phone, email, LINE, and chatbot. Furthermore, a repair network of approximately 70 locations across Japan has been established. In Tokyo’s 23 wards, repair services for all LG products, including TV products, can be completed within 72 hours (subject to parts availability). This comprehensive support system ensures robust customer service even after product purchase.
TVs Designed for Accessibility
These TVs include features such as a function to optimize color schemes for various color vision characteristics, a function to deliver clearer audio by connecting to compatible cochlear implants (requires LE Audio compatibility and a compatible cochlear implant device), and a blue light reduction function. LG Electronics aims to provide accessibility features that cater to diverse needs, enabling more customers to comfortably use its products.
