Smart Homes Entering a New Phase with AI and International Standards

The landscape surrounding smart homes has undergone significant changes in recent years, driven by the evolution of AI and the widespread adoption of IoT devices and services. Appliances, home equipment, and various services are now interconnected, naturally collaborating to support residents’ situations and needs, thereby transforming the residence itself into an “AI Home.” Central to this evolution is “Matter,” a global standard for smart homes that enables interoperability between devices regardless of manufacturer or platform. Additionally, “Aliro,” an international standard for smart keys, is under development, aiming to facilitate cross-manufacturer interoperability for using smartphones and wearables as digital keys.

X-HEMISTRY will exhibit in the “Lifestyle DX Pavilion” at CEATEC 2026 as a member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance Japan Chapter. The booth will showcase various services that support the introduction and commercialization of smart homes, along with products compatible with the Matter standard. The exhibition will demonstrate the potential of smart homes where devices and services from different manufacturers connect via Matter.

Within the “Lifestyle DX Pavilion,” the Connectivity Standards Alliance Japan Chapter member companies will conduct interoperability demonstrations of Matter-compatible devices. Moreover, the Alliance will publicly display Aliro-related exhibits in Japan for the first time. Aliro is a standard for smart keys that enables interoperability for smart locks and access control using smartphones. The exhibition will introduce the mechanism and trends of Aliro’s hands-free unlocking, which allows users to unlock doors by simply approaching them with a smartphone in their pocket or bag.
