NEC Launches New Version of PC Security Service “NeoFace Monitor Cloud Edition”
NEC has announced the release of “NeoFace Monitor Cloud Edition R1.6,” a new version of its PC security service. This service incorporates NEC’s facial recognition technology, which has achieved a top ranking in authentication accuracy globally (Note 1). The updated version introduces enhanced integration with Microsoft Entra ID (Note 2) and supports Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) authentication (Note 3) through Microsoft Authenticator (Note 2).
The increasing adoption of hybrid work models by companies and organizations necessitates IT infrastructure improvements for operational efficiency and cost reduction, alongside a growing demand for zero-trust security measures to combat information leaks and unauthorized access. “NeoFace Monitor Cloud Edition” addresses these needs by providing highly accurate facial recognition for PC logon as a cloud service, supporting the establishment of secure IT foundations for hybrid work environments.
Key features of the new version include:
1. Streamlined Management with Automated Microsoft Entra ID Integration
The new version enables automatic registration of user information managed in Microsoft Entra ID to NeoFace Monitor Cloud Edition. Furthermore, any updates or deletions in Microsoft Entra ID are automatically reflected in NeoFace Monitor Cloud Edition’s user information, significantly reducing administrative effort. This enhanced integration with Microsoft Entra ID is designed to support more efficient and secure IT management for customers.
2. Secure Authentication with Microsoft Authenticator
This update introduces a new authentication method utilizing TOTP authentication via the smartphone application “Microsoft Authenticator.” By combining this with facial recognition or password authentication, users can achieve more secure logons and robust security. Setting up Microsoft Authenticator is straightforward, requiring only scanning a QR code issued by NeoFace Monitor Cloud Edition with the smartphone app.
