Key Features of Hypershell X Ultra

Seamless Human-Machine Fusion for Enhanced Assistance

Hypershell defines its exoskeleton not merely as an auxiliary device but as a product that functions as “part of the body” by interpreting user movements and providing precise, appropriate support. Over 10 high-precision sensors perform tens of thousands of calculations per second, predicting user movement intentions in real-time. The proprietary “AI Motion Engine Ultra” instantly determines optimal output, delivering “exquisite assistance” in all usage scenarios.

The effectiveness in reducing physical burden has been objectively proven by the SGS certification, a world-first for an outdoor exoskeleton. This includes:

  • Reduction in physical exertion during walking: Up to 20%

  • Reduction in physical exertion during cycling: Up to 39%

  • Improvement in hip flexor endurance: Up to 63%

For those who struggle with descents, the “Downhill Assist” function is included to protect the knees. It detects landing impacts during downhill walks and stair descents, mitigating them with optimal assistance to reduce joint strain.

Furthermore, the Hypershell X Ultra now supports watchOS (Apple Watch). The device body features multiple physical buttons for intuitive one-touch mode switching and output adjustment. The Japanese-compatible “Hypershell+ app” allows for detailed settings and status checks, ensuring optimal assistance at all times.

Significant Advancement in Power and Endurance

The Hypershell X Ultra features dual “M-One Ultra Motors,” developed by Hypershell, on both sides of the waist, boasting an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. This achieves over 25% more power than previous models, reaching a maximum output of 1,000W. This enables smooth and powerful assistance even when carrying heavy loads or navigating unstable terrain.

The battery system, crucial for performance, has also significantly evolved. While maintaining battery compatibility with previous X Go, X Pro, and X Carbon models, the X Ultra dramatically improves the overall system’s energy efficiency through enhanced motor efficiency and optimized assist control. As a result, the cruising range has increased by approximately 71% from previous models, reaching an impressive 30km (in Eco mode). It can provide assistance for up to 7.5 hours (in Eco mode).

Additionally, the operating temperature range is exceptionally wide, from -20℃ to 60℃. This durability ensures stable performance in extreme conditions, from freezing snow mountains to scorching deserts, truly earning its title as an “outdoor powered suit.”

12 Evolved Assist Modes for Every Scenario

Building on the 10 modes available in previous models, the X Ultra introduces updated “Running+” and “Cycling+” modes, along with two new modes: “Snow” and “Dune.” These 12 modes provide optimal power for every step, from daily training to grand adventures.

  • “+” Modes for Enhanced Daily Performance

    • Running+: Provides a more powerful thrust at the moment of push-off, accelerating the user to top speed faster.

    • Cycling+: Synchronizes with pedaling, reducing the load during start-up and acceleration.

  • Modes for Exploring the World’s Extremes

    • Snow: Reduces the sensation of getting stuck in snow, mitigating fatigue during snowshoeing and snow trekking.

    • Dune: Offers support to stabilize footing on unstable sandy terrain, ensuring firm steps.

Aesthetic Design and Ultra-Lightweight Body of 1.8kg

Despite its high output, the Hypershell X Ultra achieves an ultra-lightweight body of just 1.8kg (excluding battery). This remarkable lightness and elegant, flowing silhouette are achieved through the fusion of advanced aerospace-grade materials and precision engineering.

60% of the frame utilizes high-rigidity “SpiralTwill 3000 Carbon Fiber,” while key load-bearing parts are made from 3D-formed titanium alloy “SinterShell.” This material selection and design, based on aerospace engineering, combine robustness, lightness, and a sleek form.

The waist size is widely adjustable from 28 to 48 inches (approximately 71 to 122cm), fitting a broad range of body types. When folded, it compacts to approximately B4 size (430×260×125mm), making it easy to carry in a backpack anywhere.

About Hypershell

Hypershell is an outdoor technology company specializing in the augmentation of human physical capabilities. The company’s vision is to “hyper-ize” human limits through technology, supporting individuals in their pursuit of unexplored territories.

Past Initiatives

Since its establishment in 2021, Hypershell has aimed to make cutting-edge exoskeleton technology, previously confined to laboratories and factories, accessible as a “consumer device.” The company is committed to quality, as evidenced by the Hypershell X Ultra being the first outdoor exoskeleton to obtain SGS performance certification by November 2025. This ensures proven performance in real-world usage beyond catalog specifications.

Hypershell’s innovation has received global recognition, including the “Best of Innovation” award in the Robotics category at CES 2025 and an Innovation Award at IFA 2025. The company’s product concept and technological prowess have been globally acknowledged. The initial product successfully raised over $1.23 million from more than 2,600 backers on Kickstarter, and Hypershell has since shipped over 10,000 units worldwide, supporting a wide range of adventures.

Local Expansion in Japan

Since its expansion into Japan in July 2025, Hypershell has garnered significant attention. The company has facilitated opportunities for hands-on experiences with physical and occupational therapists present, and exhibited actual units at locations like Tsutaya Electrics+. Numerous visitors have provided positive feedback based on their experiences, noting the products as “simple and light” and offering “excellent support.” Hypershell plans to continue its localized efforts in the Japanese market, including expanding its presence in retail stores.

Beyond technological innovation, Hypershell is dedicated to social contribution. By collaborating with non-profit organizations and rescue groups worldwide, the company supports life-saving activities and environmental protection, driving change towards a more sustainable and equitable society. Hypershell aims to pave the way for a future where people can move further, stronger, and smarter through the power of technology, without compromising their inherent “natural movements.”
