BicCamera and airCloset Mall Introduce In-Store “Take-Home Rental” for Home Appliances
TOKYO, Japan – March 9, 2026 – airCloset Mall, a rental service for home appliances and other items operated by airCloset, Inc., is set to launch an in-store “take-home rental” service at BicCamera, Inc.’s new BicCamera Ikebukuro West Exit IT Tower store. Starting March 14, 2026, customers will be able to apply for rental directly at the store and take products home the same day to test them in their own environment before purchasing.

This initiative expands on the existing partnership between the two companies, aiming to provide a seamless “try before you buy” experience that connects in-store product viewing with at-home usage. It offers a new option for consumers to evaluate products in real-life settings before committing to a purchase, thereby enhancing the overall home appliance buying experience.
Growing Demand for Pre-Purchase Experience
In recent years, as home appliances become more expensive and multifunctional, consumers are increasingly seeking products that precisely meet their lifestyle needs. For many items, specifications and in-store demonstrations alone do not fully convey the user experience. This has led to a rising demand for the ability to test products in a real-life environment before making a purchase decision.
In response to this trend, airCloset Mall has focused on expanding the “try before you buy” purchasing experience. Previously, this included online rental applications initiated from BicCamera stores, offering a new way to test products at home before purchasing.
This latest collaboration further develops that relationship by integrating the “try before you buy” option directly into the sales floor. Customers can now apply for rental in-store and immediately take the product home.

New Purchasing Experience with In-Store “Take-Home Rental”
The “take-home rental” service offered by airCloset Mall allows customers to apply for rental in-store and take the product home on the same day for an immediate trial. This service targets high-priced and multifunctional home appliances for which there is a strong need to confirm actual usage before purchase.
To promote awareness of this pre-purchase trial experience, a dedicated booth will be set up within the store. Furthermore, through inventory linkage with BicCamera, products available in the store can be directly rented by customers. airCloset Mall’s established operational infrastructure, encompassing credit assessment, inventory management, collection, and maintenance, will support the entire process from in-store product handover to rental usage and return. Following the initial launch, the performance and user experience will be evaluated, with potential expansion to other stores considered.
