About FocusRay Extension

FocusRay Extension is an eye-tracking device for VRSNS, comprising a compact camera module and a core module. It employs a unique magnetic attachment method, allowing users of prescription lenses (vision correction lenses) attached to VR headset lenses to use the device without issues, regardless of lens type. (This is not a lens-fixing method.)

The device can be used with each FocusRay model (AONXV-001-W / AONXV-001WR), as a standalone unit, or in combination with other companies’ face-tracking devices. However, it should be noted that the VR headset’s proximity sensor, which automatically transitions to sleep mode upon detection of removal, will be disabled. Users are advised to be aware of this before purchase.

The core module, which houses the information processing board and battery, features one USB Type-C port for power supply. For instance, connecting a FocusRay to this port can extend continuous operation time by leveraging the FocusRay Extension’s large-capacity 2000mAh battery.

Additionally, the device is equipped with two USB Type-C ports capable of both communication and power supply. One port can be used for input from an HMD (Head-Mounted Display), and the other for output to audio devices, eliminating the need for a separate USB splitter.

The supported platforms are VRChat, Resonite, and ChilloutVR. Utilizing “Baballonia,” an open-source face and eye-tracking project developed by “Project Babble,” facilitates smooth face tracking.

FocusRay Extension will be available only as a wireless connection model via Wi-Fi, consisting of a camera module and a core module. The “FocusRay Plus” bundle, including the FocusRay Wireless Model (AONXV-001-W), will be released on the same day. The existing FocusRay series will continue to be sold individually.

Sales and Pre-orders

FocusRay Extension and FocusRay Plus will be available in Japan, the United States, Australia, various European countries, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and other regions through the official EC store and other sales partners. Pre-orders will commence on the official EC site from Friday, June 12, 2026, at 18:00 JST, as the fastest general advance reservation. Detailed information regarding shipping, delivery times for general sales, and advance reservations will be announced later on the company’s website.

For customers who purchased the FocusRay series (AONXV-001-W / AONXV-001-WR) during the Kickstarter campaign (March 18 – May 12, 2026), a special price will be offered to eligible customers as a stretch goal achievement of over 165%.
