D4Enterprise Releases ‘EGG Console ZANAC EX MSX2’ on Steam®

On March 18, 2026, D4Enterprise Co., Ltd., a company engaged in the revival and distribution of retro games, launched “EGG Console ZANAC EX MSX2” on Steam®. About ‘ZANAC EX’

Released in 1987, ‘ZANAC EX’ is a vertical-scrolling sci-fi shooting game. Positioned as a sequel to the MSX version of ‘ZANAC’ in terms of its storyline, players control the state-of-the-art AFX-6502 “ZANAC” to combat organic intelligent life forms. The AFX-6502 “ZANAC” is equipped with both standard shots and special weapons. By collecting numbered chips during combat, players can switch between special bullets or enhance them by collecting the same chips consecutively.

The variety of special bullets is extensive, ranging from familiar shooting game elements like penetrating bullets to take down multiple enemies in a line, and all-directional bullets that fire in eight directions, to defensive barriers, high-speed lateral vibration bullets, and high-speed rotating bullets around the player’s ship. Players can choose to use them strategically based on the situation or focus on thoroughly enhancing their preferred special bullet to match their playstyle.

A key feature of this title is the “ALC (Automatic Level Control) function.” In ‘ZANAC EX’, the intensity of enemy attacks increases or decreases depending on how the battle progresses. For example, destroying enemy fortresses or shooting down reconnaissance planes can weaken enemy attacks. This dynamic system ensures that each playthrough offers a fresh and engaging experience.
