Development Process: Optimal Design from Over 2,000 Verification Patterns

A key focus during the development of this product was to achieve a high level of performance for both writing on paper and using it as a stylus on an iPad. Leveraging Zebra’s unique knock mechanism and core design, various prototypes were created by altering conditions such as the casing design, internal mechanism and electrical design, ink cartridge extension method, and pen tip voltage. Detailed evaluations of the writing experience were conducted on 34 iPad models, with over 2,000 verification patterns carried out from prototyping to mass production. Even subtle line breaks and differences in writing feel, which are not easily visible, were meticulously checked to pursue the optimal design.

Furthermore, in this joint development across the distinct fields of writing instruments and digital accessories, both companies shared their expertise and engaged in extensive discussions from design to the mass production process, establishing stringent quality standards. This allowed for careful selection of models that ensure stable writing quality. The commitment to not compromise on either paper or iPad functionality, achieved through thorough attention to minute details, is a significant aspect of this product. The Stylus Two-Way is a result of combining the knowledge of both Elecom and Zebra, and is delivered with confidence.

Simply click the clip to extend the pen tip and power on, allowing immediate use without the hassle of pairing or mode switching.
The approximately 0.5mm ball diameter enables detailed writing, making it ideal for intricate tasks.
Palm rejection is supported, preventing accidental operations when a hand touches the screen.
The pen body features a magnet, allowing it to attach to an iPad for convenient portability (iPad mini only).

Convenient Features for Extended Use

Charges via a USB Type-C™ cable, providing approximately 7 hours of continuous use.
Equipped with a rapid charging function that allows a full charge in about 30 minutes, enabling quick use even when the battery is low.
An auto-sleep function activates after 10 minutes of inactivity, preventing accidental power drain.
The ink refill is replaceable, allowing for long-term use. A dedicated refill is included, and additional refills can be purchased as Zebra “BS-0.5 core black 2-pack.”
