REON POCKET Amidst Recent Heatwaves
The REON POCKET, first released for general sale in 2020, saw the launch of new models, REON POCKET PRO Plus and REON POCKET 6, in 2026. Notably, the REON POCKET PRO Plus experienced approximately three times the sales in May compared to the previous year, influenced by record-breaking heatwaves across Europe.
Japan has also faced increasing heat. In 2025, Tokyo recorded a new high of 29 days with extreme heat2. April 2026 saw the official designation of ‘Kokusho-bi’ (fierce heat day) for days exceeding 40℃3. Furthermore, temperatures nationwide are predicted to be higher than average from June onwards4.
In response to these environmental conditions, new energy-saving standards for air conditioners are set to be raised from April 2027. For the upcoming summer of 2026, the electricity reserve rate in the Tokyo area is projected to be lower than in other regions5. It is generally understood that raising air conditioning temperatures by 1℃ can reduce energy consumption at the heat source by approximately 10%6.
