Survey Findings
The survey targeted existing iPhone users to understand their purchase intentions for the iPhone 18 series. The results are summarized below.
Result ①: Preferred Models – “iPhone 18 Pro” at 27.0%, “Waiting for standard model in spring 2027” at 24.7%
When asked which model they were considering, “iPhone 18 Pro” was the most frequent choice, with 81 respondents (27.0%). This was closely followed by “iPhone 18” with 74 respondents (24.7%), and “Undecided” with 62 respondents (20.7%). The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models are scheduled for release in September 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 is expected in spring 2027. This indicates that 24.7% of respondents are willing to wait approximately six months for the standard model.
Result ②: Reasons for Upgrade – “Battery Degradation” at 76.0%, “Desire for the latest model” only 26.7%
The primary reason cited for upgrading an iPhone was “Battery degradation,” chosen by 228 respondents (76.0%). This was followed by “Slow operation/processing” (88 respondents, 29.3%), “Desire for the latest model” (80 respondents, 26.7%), and “Insufficient storage capacity” (69 respondents, 23.0%). The fact that “Desire for the latest model” ranked third suggests that upgrades are driven more by a need to resolve issues related to daily usability, such as battery life and processing speed, rather than simply wanting the newest product. This implies that practical benefits in terms of performance are highly valued.
