KATA Friends can now receive voice commands to operate smart home devices. For example, users can say:

  • “Turn off the ceiling light.”

  • “Turn on the living room air conditioner.”

  • “Stop the circulator.”

Note: Operation of circulators, some SwitchBot devices, and infrared home appliances requires a separate SwitchBot Hub product.

Execute Scenes with a Single Voice Command

Pre-registered scenes in the SwitchBot app can also be activated by speaking to KATA Friends. For example, saying “Activate ‘Welcome Home’ mode” can trigger a series of actions, such as adjusting lighting, turning on the air conditioner, and starting the robot vacuum simultaneously.

Note: Scene execution and control of infrared home appliances require a separate SwitchBot Hub product. This function supports scenes pre-registered in the SwitchBot app; scene creation and editing must be done via the app.

How to Use

To utilize the “O-tetsudai” feature, users must update their SwitchBot app and KATA Friends firmware to the following versions or higher:

  • Firmware: V1.2.059 or higher

  • App Version: V9.26 or higher

Steps:

  1. Update the SwitchBot app and KATA Friends firmware.
  2. Call out to KATA Friends with “Let’s talk” to initiate “Earth language” mode.
  3. State your request, such as “Turn off the light.”

Note: Access to KATA Friends features requires the purchase of the main unit and a subscription to the KATA Friends Kurashi Plan. Both “Earth language” mode and the “O-tetsudai” feature require an internet connection.
