Yokowo Develops ‘Small Waterproof Two-Piece Connector’ with 20% Lower Profile, Maintaining High Vibration and Shock Resistance
Yokowo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Takayuki Tokuma) has announced the development of a “Small Waterproof Two-Piece Connector” that is approximately 20% lower in profile compared to conventional waterproof two-piece connectors (TBCs). Sample products will be available starting in March.

While conventional waterproof TBCs have primarily been used for mobile device battery pack connections, the new connector is expected to expand its applications to a wide range of markets and industries beyond mobile terminals.
Key Features of Yokowo’s Two-Piece Connector
Yokowo’s TBC features a two-piece structure consisting of a plug connector and a receptacle connector that are mated for use. This connector offers excellent vibration and shock resistance due to a unique floating structure with two contact points. Additionally, its patented receptacle contact shape can absorb minor misalignments of up to ±0.3mm during mating.
Beyond its contact follow-up performance against vibration and shock, the connector boasts waterproof capabilities, preventing water intrusion in rainy environments or during washing processes. By optimizing the components and internal structure of the conventional receptacle connector, the number of parts has been reduced. This innovation achieves a 20% lower profile compared to traditional TBCs, while maintaining all fundamental characteristics and features.
