Nishikawa Co., Ltd. is set to launch its new urethane pillow, ‘#005 punitoro Pillow’, on the crowdfunding platform Makuake starting Monday, January 19, 2026. This pillow, with its unique “puni” (springy) and “toro” (melting) sensation, is designed to offer a marshmallow-like sleeping experience.
The ‘#005 punitoro Pillow’ integrates two novel urethane materials: one providing a springy elasticity and fit, and the other, “Marshmallow Foam®,” offering a meltingly soft texture. This combination, along with a patented “3D Neck Support,” creates a new structure that is soft yet prevents excessive sinking, gently supporting the head and neck for a comfortable, enveloping sleep.
According to the “nishikawa Sleep White Paper,” a survey of 10,000 individuals, low-resilience urethane is the most preferred pillow material due to its soft, enveloping feel. However, its softness often leads to drawbacks such as an unnatural sleeping posture due to excessive sinking, difficulty in turning over, and hardening in colder temperatures.
The ‘#005 punitoro Pillow’ aims to overcome these weaknesses by leveraging its distinct dual-material structure and integrated “3D Neck Support.” The “3D Neck Support,” made from a springy new material, is incorporated into the lower layer of the pillow. This provides a gentle, hand-like fit and support, maintaining the natural S-curve of the neck for both back and side sleepers, thereby reducing strain on the neck and shoulders. The upper layer of “Marshmallow Foam®” softly cradles the head, promoting a relaxed and comfortable sleeping posture.

The heathered knit cover, designed to blend with any interior, features an L-shaped zipper for easy removal and washing. The urethane core is enveloped in a stretchy mesh material to protect it and enhance its tactile quality, ensuring smooth insertion and removal from the knit cover.

To accommodate various body types and preferences, the pillow is available in two heights: “Regular” and “High.”
