A key initiative is the achievement of plastic-free packaging for target models, including the 2025 releases “EOS R6 Mark III,” “EOS R50 V,” “RF45mm F1.2 STM,” and the Canon bestseller model “EOS R50.” This extends across digital SLR cameras, interchangeable lenses for digital SLR cameras, compact digital cameras, and cinema cameras.
Traditionally, plastic trays and bags were used for cushioning and packaging accompanying cables. By replacing these with cardboard, plant-derived non-woven fabric, and paper materials, Canon aims to reduce single-use plastics and lessen the environmental burden.
Single-use plastics refer to petroleum-derived plastics, excluding materials used for labels, coatings, and adhesives.
