Background of Service Development
In recent years, diverse lifestyles and work styles have led to changes in how household chores are managed and the roles and uses expected of home appliances. Concurrently, as appliances and services become more sophisticated, there is a growing demand for easier access to necessary information and functions. Sharp began offering AIoT appliances in 2015, which combine AI and IoT to understand user preferences and living patterns, providing tailored suggestions. Since then, the company has expanded its lineup, selling over 10 million AIoT appliances to date. Various AIoT-compatible services have also been developed, including generative AI services launched last year.
Features of NIAH
The new “NIAH” service deeply understands users’ daily lives by connecting with multiple existing home appliances and services. The AI agent “NIAH” responds to questions and consultations regarding household chores and appliances, and, when necessary, assists with appliance settings. It also centrally manages daily schedules and household task arrangements, providing timely notifications to help reduce the burden of chores.
Through continuous dialogue via the application, the AI agent “NIAH” will understand users’ lives and habits, evolving into a presence akin to another family member, connecting users with their appliances and services.
Compatibility and Service Plans
Initially, “NIAH” will support 52 Sharp appliance models, including air purifiers, air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, and cooking appliances.
Four plans are available based on the number of conversations with “NIAH”:
-
Free: 30 conversations/month
-
Normal: 300 conversations/month
-
Premium: 600 conversations/month
-
Gold: 1,200 conversations/month
For owners of eligible appliances, a six-month free trial of the “Normal” plan will be provided from the service start date.

Future Development
Sharp plans to expand the range of compatible devices and services in the future. The company will also actively promote collaboration with devices from other manufacturers and external services, aiming to develop “NIAH” into an open platform that supports daily life in various aspects.
