Ten Fields Factory Unveils “FLASH MARK.7” EV Ultra-Fast Charger with 400kW Output and 35% Lighter Cable

Maximum Output of 400kW for Ultra-Fast Charging

As EV batteries grow in capacity and vehicle charging capabilities advance, the need for faster charging solutions becomes critical. The “FLASH MARK.7” addresses this by increasing its maximum output to 400kW, a significant upgrade from the previous model’s 240kW. It supports a maximum voltage of 1000V and a maximum current of 600A, aiming to provide a charging environment that fully utilizes the performance of high-output EVs.

This model is designed to continuously deliver high-output charging without time-based restrictions, adapting to the vehicle’s acceptance capabilities. It is expected to be the only public EV fast charger in Japan capable of continuous 400kW output without time limits, supporting both CHAdeMO and NACS standards (CHAdeMO certification pending).

FLASH MARK.7 charger emphasizing 400kW output

The “FLASH MARK.7” is intended for deployment in locations with high demand for short charging times, such as commercial facilities, roadside stations, automotive-related facilities, and tourist attractions. Actual charging output and time may vary depending on vehicle compatibility, battery level, battery temperature, and ambient temperature.

35% Lighter Cable for Improved Handling

As rapid chargers become more powerful, charging cables tend to become thicker and heavier, potentially making them cumbersome for users. The “FLASH MARK.7” tackles this challenge by redesigning the charging cable’s structure.

FLASH MARK.7 cable details: thinner and lighter

The new cable features a diameter of φ32mm, approximately 20% thinner than the current model, and a weight of 1.5kg/m, roughly 35% lighter. Despite these reductions, it retains the “FLASH” series’ characteristic ability to maintain a maximum current of 600A without time restrictions. This design significantly reduces the physical burden on users when connecting the cable to their vehicles, enhancing overall usability.

Compact Design with Enhanced Performance

Despite its increased output to 400kW, the “FLASH MARK.7” maintains the same body size as the previous “FLASH MARK.6” model. This design choice leverages existing engineering and charging technologies to balance high performance with ease of installation. Its compact footprint allows for easier integration into existing sites such as commercial facilities, tourist attractions, car dealerships, and roadside stations, where space may be limited.

Towards an EV Charging Infrastructure Balancing High Output and Ease of Use

EV rapid chargers require not only high maximum output but also overall usability, including convenience at installation sites and operational ease for users. The “FLASH MARK.7” achieves this by offering a maximum output of 400kW while maintaining a compact body and featuring a thinner, lighter charging cable.

Furthermore, the charger supports flexible operation through configurable charging units and software-based output control. This allows the output to be adjusted according to the facility’s power reception environment and the charger owner’s operational policies, accommodating diverse site conditions and business plans.

Through high output that shortens charging times, user-friendly charging equipment, and flexible operation tailored to site needs, Ten Fields Factory aims to enhance the EV user charging experience and charger owner convenience.

About EV Rapid Charger “FLASH”

“FLASH” is an EV rapid charger series planned, developed, and deployed by Ten Fields Factory Co., Ltd. The company is actively installing these chargers across Japan in commercial facilities, tourist sites, automotive facilities, roadside stations, accommodation facilities, and public spaces to build an EV charging environment that supports daily life and long-distance travel. Beyond high output, the company is also focused on developing systems for continuous operation as social infrastructure, including convenient payment and authentication, remote monitoring, maintenance, and free access during disasters.

Future Developments

Anticipating the increasing number of EVs with large-capacity batteries and high-output charging capabilities, Ten Fields Factory plans to accelerate the development of environments where users can charge quickly and comfortably in various locations, from urban areas to rural regions, and from commercial facilities to tourist destinations. The company will continue to evolve charging performance, operability, and installability to contribute to a society where EV users can travel without concerns about charging locations or times.
