Tesla Powerwall 3 Home Battery Now Available at Yamada Denki
Yamada Holdings has announced that it will begin selling Tesla’s Powerwall 3 home battery system at Yamada Denki stores across Japan (excluding Okinawa Prefecture). The Powerwall 3 holds the No. 1 market share in the U.S. home battery market (according to the 2025 Ohm Analytics Report).

About Powerwall 3
Powerwall is an energy storage system that stores electricity generated by solar panels, providing a stable power supply to homes during the night or power outages. By promoting the use of renewable energy, it contributes to an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
Powerwall 3 further enhances the compatibility between solar power generation systems and battery storage compared to previous models. A single unit can supply more power than Powerwall 2 (sold as Powerwall in Japan) and is designed for easy expansion to meet current or future customer needs. Powerwall 3 is a hybrid battery that integrates a solar inverter, achieving high efficiency by directly connecting to solar power generation. Like Powerwall 2, it can also be installed as a standalone unit, added to existing solar power systems, or installed independently.
Product Features
- Integrated Solar Inverter
It strengthens collaboration with solar power generation systems, efficiently storing electricity. This allows for greater utilization of solar energy and contributes to reducing electricity bills. - Safe and Durable Design
Safety and durability have been thoroughly pursued from the design and development stages. It is built to withstand various severe weather conditions and can be installed both indoors and outdoors. - Enhanced Whole-Home Backup
During independent operation, the output maintains the same level as normal operation at 9.69 kW, further strengthening whole-home power supply and backup performance. - Simple and Easy System Design and Expansion
The system is designed to be easily expandable according to customer preferences and home conditions.
Real-time Energy Monitoring with the Tesla App
The Tesla app allows users to monitor the operational status of Powerwall 3, as well as their home’s energy status and solar power generation, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, remotely. It also optimizes operation by controlling charging and discharging based on past energy usage and solar power generation forecasts. Furthermore, the app includes an AI-powered feature that provides clear explanations of current situations and operational contexts.

Eligibility for National and Local Government Subsidies
Powerwall 3 has completed equipment registration with the Sustainable open Innovation Initiative (SII), which is a requirement for eligible equipment in many subsidy programs. This makes it easier to utilize national and local government subsidies that target SII-registered equipment. For example, in Tokyo, a maximum subsidy of 1.2 million JPY is currently available.
*The subsidy amount is based on the requirements as of August 2026. Subsidy requirements vary depending on the provider, and customers are advised to confirm details independently.
