Powerwall 3 Product Overview

-
Hybrid Battery for Simplicity: Powerwall 3 now includes an integrated solar power conditioner, allowing direct connection to solar panels and achieving an industry-leading conversion efficiency (DC>AC) of 97.5%. This reduces the number of required devices, simplifies installation, and enhances aesthetics. It is suitable for those considering installing solar power and batteries together, or for new detached homes. It can also function as a standalone unit for homes with existing solar power systems, allowing customers to continue using their existing power conditioners.
-
High Output of 9.69 kW: The maximum output has been approximately doubled from Powerwall 2’s 5 kW to 9.69 kW. This allows most households to operate all household appliances simultaneously. It provides peace of mind during power outages, enabling daily life to continue even in emergencies.
-
Improved Weather Resistance: Powerwall 3 offers a wide operating temperature range (-20°C to 50°C), dustproof, severe salt damage resistance, and added water immersion resistance (up to 60cm from the bottom). This ensures reliable operation across Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, in various weather conditions.
-
Refined Design: The compact design has been refreshed, featuring an aesthetic exterior that blends seamlessly with any installation location.
-
Japanese Standard Compliance: Compliance with domestic safety certifications (JIS C 4412 and JIS C 8715-2), IoT product security certification (JC-STAR), and communication standard (ECHONET Lite) ensures suitability for the Japanese market.
Seamless Monitoring and Management with Tesla App

The Tesla App allows real-time monitoring and management of home energy status from a smartphone. In addition to an intuitive app interface, it includes features that clearly explain current conditions and operational background, providing a deeper understanding of home energy usage and enhanced peace of mind.

All Powerwall units are equipped with Tesla Home, a home energy management system that optimizes household energy use. At its core is Tesla’s proprietary AI technology, Opticaster. Opticaster analyzes multiple data sources—such as weather forecasts, electricity demand predictions, fluctuations in electricity prices, and solar power generation forecasts—using machine learning to automatically determine and execute the optimal energy usage for each household. This intelligent control allows customers to consistently utilize energy in the most economical and environmentally friendly way, without conscious effort. Furthermore, it learns and optimizes for each household’s lifestyle with continued use.
