Background of Development

Since beginning the manufacture of LED ceiling lights for residential use in 2011, HotaluX has sold over 15 million units in Japan. In response to diversifying lifestyles and growing interest in “interiors,” “health,” and “experiences,” product development shifted from merely “illuminating” to providing a “healing space experience” through indirect lighting. The aim was to offer lighting fixtures that enhance quality of life, incorporating unique light colors and flicker functions for main rooms like living areas and for comfortable sleep in bedrooms.

1. Indirect Lighting Function to Support Relaxing Space Creation

The “HotaluX AURA” series features indirect lighting positioned slightly away from the ceiling, allowing light to spread and create a luxurious ambiance. This design is intended to help ease the mind and relieve daily fatigue.

    • Separate Lighting Function for Main and Indirect Illumination
      Users can choose between “main lighting,” “indirect lighting,” or “main + indirect lighting.” Both main and indirect lighting offer 10 levels of dimming and 11 levels of color tuning. Combining these options provides 12,320 diverse lighting effects.
      The indirect lighting offers specific color tones: a blue-green “MARINE” color reminiscent of the sea and sky, and an orange “CANDLE” color evoking sunsets or candlelight, allowing users to experience nature indoors. A memory function allows for saving three preferred light patterns.

2. Recommended for Bedrooms: HotaluX AURA

“HotaluX AURA” includes several features ideal for creating a calm atmosphere in bedrooms for restful sleep.

    • Flicker Function
      Two types of flicker functions are available: “Natural flicker” provides the comfort of gazing at rippling water or candlelight, while “Breathing flicker” helps regulate breathing to calm the mind before stretching or sleeping (Note 1).

    • HotaluX Function (with Comfort Mode)
      The “HotaluX function” automatically illuminates the HotaluX LED in a blue-green light during sudden power outages (Note 2), subtly lighting the surroundings for about 2-3 minutes to help users assess the room’s situation.
      “Comfort Mode” activates the HotaluX LED at a gentle, non-glaring brightness for 30 minutes, providing a soothing light (Note 3) to support the transition to sleep. The calming effect of this mode has been verified by Yamagata University.

    • Wake-up Timer and Sleep Timer
      The “Wake-up timer function” supports morning awakening by gradually illuminating with refreshing daylight-colored light 30 minutes before the set time. The “Sleep timer function” supports falling asleep by automatically turning off after experiencing normal illumination, indirect lighting, or flicker modes. These two timers assist with both waking and sleeping.

    • 3-level Night Light Dimming
      For those who prefer to sleep with a night light, the product offers three stages of dimming for the night light, allowing users to find their preferred brightness.

3. Emphasis on Interior Design

Lighting fixtures are an integral part of interior design. “HotaluX AURA,” as an LED ceiling light with indirect illumination for enjoying space, features a sophisticated design. From various design proposals, a premium iron-style design frame was adopted. This design harmonizes with diverse interiors and does not interfere with the indirect lighting. In addition to functionality, design has been a key focus. The product also includes an insect-proof function (Note 4), reducing the effort required for cleaning.

4. LCD Remote Control

“HotaluX AURA” includes a large LCD remote control with comprehensive timer functions.

    • 4 Timer Functions
      In addition to the wake-up and sleep timers, the remote control features timers useful for when away from home. The “ON/OFF timer” allows setting specific times for turning the light on and off. The “Automatic absence timer” cycles through pre-set lighting patterns (4 variations) by simply selecting a time, serving as a minor security measure during absence (Note 5).

    • Hand Light Function
      The remote control includes a hand light function, which is useful after the main light is turned off or during power outages.
